Our Oprah Moment

Lisa and I decided to distribute the books to the staff at our June staff meeting. Each staff member received a copy of a resource that was relevant to the grade that they are teaching next year. To the staff that won't be returning to George Webster in September, those teachers also received a copy of a resource to be used at their respective schools.

Co-Teaching with Tahia

I had the opportunity to co-teach a lesson (the first Relationship lesson in the Junior Unit to be precise using Zero by Kathryn Otoshi) with Tahia Bakir.  We had a double period for the lesson, which was a bit long.  The students responded brilliantly.  They were engaged and into the discussion the whole time.

It was a wonderful opportunity to share our work.

Now what?

We met today after school to figure out what's next.  Here's the plan:
  • buy a copy of the book for every teacher in the school and for new staff members next year
  • each book will come with a bookmark and a request to complete the online after survey
  • creation of the after survey
  • printing of parent brochure and a time at the next Parent Council meeting to present units
  • photos from our Lunch 'n Learn sessions
  • book planning days - June 8, June 15, and June 22
  • days will be used to prepare blog, PDF, and BLURB for sharing
  • drafting and writing the final report
  • preparing for November presentation
Our next meeting will be June 8th.  We need:
  • student work samples for colour copying
  • ideas for final report
  • finalized parent pamphlet

Getting ready for publishing

So the task of manipulating the formatting into publishable format is the goal for today.  so far the worst part has been proofreading.

Covers have been designed and chosen.
