Friday 26 February 2016

TO DO LIST:

  • unit resources list
  • unit materials list
  • check each lesson for complete materials list
  • insert G.O.s and blackline masters where possible
  • check for consistency of layout and formatting and language
  • read through for completeness
  • begin working on parent information

It is getting there.  I can start to see what it will look like.  It is starting to feel real and exciting.  I'm looking forward to implementing it.

Nate had an idea to release ourselves for some lessons into each other's class in order to take notes on how the implementation actually goes and improve the units.

As our parent resources, we are thinking that we will produce an outline for what our unit is rather than creating a separate resource for parent to use (seeing as we are not actually psychologists :)

Planning Session - Friday, February 26th

We are at Nate's today and feeling excited about our progress.  We can see the units coming together and have figured out some of the layout decisions.  We should have our junior unit completed by next week and then we can start adapting up and down for primary and intermediate.  We are planning on teaching after March Break.

Today we are cleaning up some of the wording and activities of the unit with a specific focus on our Life Skills section, which being at the end of the unit, has suffered from a lack of attention.  (Third child syndrome maybe.)

We are now moving between paper and electronic versions to try and get a feel for what it will be and look like.

Homework for next session - Friday, February 26

For our next planning session we will:
  • Life Skills section focus
  • Focus on relating all lessons and activities to mental health and well being
  • Learning Goals - Nate
  • Minds On - Nate
  • Action and Materials - Lisa
  • Consolidation - Lisa
  • harmonize formatting

Planning Day - Thursday, February 18/16

I'm back!  It's like Groundhog Day all over again.  Back to the same location, the same event, and even the same lunch (don't tell Nate!)  We are at my house to try and get these lessons to a stage where they can be classroom tested.  Our self-imposed publishing deadline is rapidly approaching, but I always say I work best under pressure.

Goals for today:
  • get Junior unit in shape to be adapted up and down
  • make layout and formatting consistent throughout - is it time to move to Word?

Planning Session #5 - And then there was one...

Poor Lisa was sick with a splitting migraine for today's planning session. So I was left to my own devices to work on the content of the Junior Unit. It still needs work. I missed not having Lisa today! (insert - sad emoji) I hope she feels better.
